Welcome to Shockblast Media. My name is Jason Joseph and Shockblast Media is a website 10 years in the making. I have finally decided that the time is right to do my own thing, to do it my way, and not let anything stop me from doing what I want. Shockblast Media was born as a vehicle for creativity without limitations. Joining me in founding the site are two of the best friends I could ever ask for: my brother Eric Joseph and Jason Belec. Together, our goal is to do what we love because we want to do it. Nothing more, nothing less.
I am a veteran of the online webzine community, starting way back in 2000 with a little site called Famous Music. From there, it was on to a TheUndergroundScene.net, where I spent the better part of six years making it one of the best sites on the net for new and breaking hardcore and metal bands. I watched bands like All That Remains, Shadows Fall, Killswitch Engage, Unearth and so many more literally explode right before my eyes, all while experiencing their humble beginnings. Working with Mike and Jarret Byrne, Robby Post, Nick Zendzian and Dan Perrone were some of the best times of my life, and we shared memories that I will never forget.
TUS ended up folding, and I eventually moved on to Thrashmag.com with my good friend DJ Alcombright, who is an outstanding photographer and all around good dude. I wish I could have offered him more, but I burned out on the music industry after a while and needed a break.
Video games quickly became a big part of my life, and the need to write again shortly followed. It only made sense that when the opportunity to join a video game website arose, I jumped at the opportunity. Thus began my stint with Analoghype.com, an amazing site that I was very fortunate to work for. Krome, Marc, Khalid, Keem, Trill and the rest of the cast and characters from AH were a pleasure to work with. I think that squad has a real heart for gaming, but there were some things I wanted to do that just didn’t fit what AH was trying to do.
This is where the inspiration for Shockblast Media was finally born. I have talked about doing my own site for years, but always lacked the confidence to get it done. Those days are over, and I am very excited to see what the future holds.
I respect, appreciate and value the time I spent with all four websites from my past, and I would not be the writer I am today without them. If you have ever been a fan of my work from any of these sites, you haven’t seen anything yet. Shockblast Media is about being awesome. It is about having fun doing the things we love, with no limits, no preconceived notions, and no one to say something doesn’t fit a certain criteria. My promise to all of our readers is that we will put our hearts into our work, and that we will continue doing what we love because we want to, because we can.
