Shocking Introduction: Trenched Gameplay Footage

Now here is a game that took me totally by surprise! Double Fine is a company known for their work on Psychonauts, Brutal Legend, Stacking and more, and they are back with their latest creation, a tower defense shooter called Trenched. This wasn’t a game that was on my radar, but after hearing some good things about the game and seeing my homey Merc CMDR addicted to it, I jumped all in, and it was easily one of the best $15 I’ve ever spent. This game is fun as hell, super addictive and really what gaming is all about. I was never a big tower defense kind of guy, but this has opened a whole new world of video games to me. The game is a bit silly, taking place shortly after World War I and featuring two former military men that were subjected to some kind of a “broadcast” that rewired their brains and made them super smart and capable of building all sorts of machines.
Frank Woodruff is you good guy, and he became capable of building this mech towers called Trenches. Throughout the game, you will unlock various weapons and paint jobs to continuously upgrade your trench, as different maps definitely play better with different set-ups. Vladamir Farnsworth is your bad guy, and his exposure to the Broadcast made him go a little crazy, and he builds all sorts of animalistic robots that are set to destroy and take over the world. So it is a constant battle between Woodruff and Farnsworth in Europe, Africa and the Pacific that is in a word, addictive. I love it, love it, love it. So much fun, especially with three of your buddies in co-op. Below you will find the opening of the game, which will give you a better idea of what is going on, along with the first mission:
If that’s not enough, check out some co-op action with my good friends iST4SCR4AM, iNEMESIS PRIME and Merc CMDR as we battle it out on the map Volcano:
This game is only available on XBox Live and it is totally worth every penny! Easily one of the best XBox Live Arcade games I have ever played. Try the demo first if you’re still not sure, I am sure it won’t take long to convince you to buy!
