This is going to be a massive year for Marvel movies, with Captain America and Thor already set to hit the big screen and already making waves. Sandwiched between the two, though, will be another Marvel movie that is looking like it will be every bit as deserving of our attention. I haven’t really been all that excited about X-Men: The First Class so far, but after checking out the debut trailer for the film, I most certainly am now. The movie is set to feature Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsher long before the became Professor X or Magneto. Xavier will be played by James McAvory, while Michael Fassbender is looking like an outstanding choice as a young Magneto. I was a big fan of Fassbender in Inglorious Basterds, and he certainly looks ready to steal the show here. As far as trailers go, this one definitely does an outstanding job of creating a very dark and gritty beginning for the team, and should explain how everyone managed to get to where they would. January Jones as Emma Frost? Kevin Bacon as Sebastian Shaw? Hank McCoy, Raven Darkholme, Alex Summers, lots of interesting names attached to the movie, and even though we won’t be seeing many of the X-Men most people know and love, this is looking like it could be the best movie to wear the name X-Men without them. Look for X-Men: The First Class in theaters June 3rd, 2011.
