Call Of Duty: Back Ops First Strike Map Pack Video Walk Through

So the day has finally come for all the folks living in the world of X-Box Live for the soon to be Twitter breaking addition to the Call Of Duty: Multiplayer experience, the First Strike Map Pack. This is the first wave of Map Packs for Black Ops and is priced at 1200 Microsoft Points. It will be available exclusively on X-Box Live for the month of February and is available right now.

Many a sick day will be had today, but I certainly won’t be one of them. I got up extra early and shot some video of all four new maps, and here they are for your viewing pleasure along with my thoughts on the map. Please be patient if the video says it is still processing, the whole “I really like my job and I am way too responsible” thing kind of got in my way before I walked out the door:

Kowloon: This map is going to be as fun as it is frustrating. There are lots of easy ways to fall off buildings and two zip lines in the middle of the maps. To be completely honest, they are useless, and only a death trap, as they don’t even take you that far. I can see it be a challenge maneuvering through buildings to get where you want to be, as this is one of those maps you are really going to want to know like the back of your hand to be successful.

Discovery: Interesting wintery map. The green tint of the lighting is pretty cool. It feels really big compared to other maps, and there are a few sneaky places you can go to cut across the middle, but using the middle of the map as a divide is the theme of three of these maps.

Stadium: Love it. Fighting in a hockey stadium? How appropriate. This map in the grand scheme of things is as straight forward as they come, and I was really sad I couldn’t find a way to kill myself by falling. The only thing that could have made it cooler would be if they expanded

Berlin Wall: Here’s a shocker! Death turrets in the middle of the map? The middle is really no mans land, as you are completely dead if you try to cut through. To be honest, I’m not a huge fan of that aspect of the map, as it looks like it will make people fight in a circle. Maybe that will add to the challenge, so I guess we’ll see.

I’m not a big fan of the whole zombies thing, so that’ll be another post for another day. I’ve heard there will be some double XP going on, so I may have to break this bad boy out some more so I can actually prestige once in this game. See you on the Bat… wait, that’s not it. First Strike is out now on X-Box 360.
