When you are the reigning king of everything that is NASCAR, sometimes things can get a little boring. No one has been able to touch Jimmie Johnson on the race track for years, so now he is shifting his focus to the world of gaming. No, I don’t have any inside information on an impending retirement, but I do have a very public press release announcing his brand new colaboration with Autumn Games for the over-the-top madness that will be Jimmie Johnson’s Anything With An Engine. Initial details for the game are below, along with the first three screen shots for the game. It looks like the game should be pretty interesting if you’re into this kind of thing:

Los Angeles – Dec. 3, 2010 – Dumpsters, start your engines! Autumn Games, a premier publisher of interactive entertainment, has partnered withIsopod Labs to develop Jimmie Johnson’s Anything with an Engine, a new racing game that will allow players to compete against over-the-top characters in outlandish vehicles. Autumn Games has teamed with NASCAR superstar Jimmie Johnson to create one of the most exciting racing experiences possible, currently in development for a 2011 release for all three major home consoles.

“There’s no denying that video games are certainly one of the most popular forms of entertainment,” said Jimmie Johnson, who is embarking on his first foray into game development. “There are certainly a lot of entertaining racing games, but I’ve always felt there was something missing. I wanted to capture that kind of ‘anything goes’ element in racing and make a unique game that appeals to everyone. Jimmie Johnson’s Anything with an Engine will allow players to race in vehicles created from the most unlikely of everyday objects – from dumpsters to lawnmowers – fulfilling Jimmie’s “Anything with an engine!” motto. Lead-footed drivers will engage in elimination-style circuits across progressively challenging tracks, complete with pyrotechnics-laden theatrical sets strewn with wicked hazards, traps and jumps.
